HireVue alternatives without an enterprise contract
HireVue sells to large employers through a sales team. These seven one-way interview tools publish their prices, and you can pay for most of them month to month.
By The AnswerReel team. Updated .
Why small teams look elsewhere
HireVue covers a lot: one-way and live video interviews, assessments, scheduling and deep ATS integrations, built for companies hiring at high volume. If you hire thousands of people a year, that breadth may be worth paying for.
For a small agency or a company hiring a few roles at a time, the buying process is the problem. HireVue doesn't list prices; you book a demo and get a quote. Third-party pricing trackers put entry-level contracts at around $35,000 a year, sold annually. HireVue hasn't published those numbers, so treat them as estimates, but they are far above what any tool below charges.
| Tool | Small team, per month | AI scoring | Billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnswerReel | $39 | 1 to 5 for each criterion you write, with a one-line reason, and the candidate's exact words for any score above 1. No scoring on faces, voice or accent. | Monthly or yearly, cancel anytime |
| Hireflix | $150No AI scoring found | We couldn't find AI scoring on its site. Answers are rated by hand. | Monthly or yearly; agencies get a custom quote |
| Hirevire | $149 | 1 to 5 against weighted factors you set, with the reasoning shown. Its help docs describe references to the question, not quotes from the answer. | Monthly, quarterly (about 10% off) or yearly |
| OneWayInterview | $49.99 | Marks each answer correct, acceptable or incorrect against the answers you write, plus an overall match score | Monthly or yearly (30% off) |
| Spark Hire | $299Varies by company size | AI Video Review rates 6 fixed factors as strong, neutral or weak with a rationale. English answers only. | Monthly from $299, or yearly from $249 a month |
| Truffle | $119 | A band and percentage for each competency, with reasoning. Timestamped clips of the answer (Candidate Shorts) sit alongside the scores. | Monthly or yearly; Starter is monthly only |
| Willo | $177Lite plan, AI summaries only | Enterprise only: candidates ranked against a Blueprint you define, with a verdict and supporting points | Lite is monthly per job with no contract; Enterprise is an annual agreement |
Small team means 3 open jobs, 60 answers a month, 1 recruiter, on the cheapest monthly plan that includes AI scoring, where a vendor has one; otherwise the note under the price says which plan we used. Prices checked on October 20, 2026 from each vendor's own pricing page.

Switching from HireVue
- Export the questions you use today, along with any scoring guides your interviewers follow.
- Rewrite each guide as one to three plain criteria, such as “describes one complaint from start to finish”. Our scorecard template builder helps with the wording.
- Keep the first round short: three questions, two minutes each. Long one-way interviews lose candidates.
- Check the candidate notice. If the new tool scores with AI, New York City, Illinois and other places have rules about telling candidates first; our AI hiring laws summary lists them.
- Send a test invite to yourself and a colleague, on a phone, before any candidate sees it.
- Run one role on the new tool while the old contract winds down, then move the rest.
